Greenline Housing Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is closing the racial wealth and homeownership gaps, and reversing the effects of systemic racism in housing by giving down payment grants, home maintenance grants and financial education to qualified people of color to purchase or maintain a home. The homeownership rate for Black Americans is 44%, compared to 72% for White Americans. Homeownership is one of the biggest passages of wealth from generation to generation yet Black and Hispanic Americans have only 15-20% of the wealth of White Americans. These statistics have historical origins and generational implications, but Greenline is changing this narrative. Since its inception, Greenline has awarded over $570K in grants to families in communities across the country.
