Greenline Housing Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to closing the racial wealth and homeownership gaps, and reversing the effects of systemic racism in housing by giving down payment grants, home maintenance grants and financial education to qualified people of color to purchase or maintain a home. By using the grant as a form of lost equity, Greenline is repairing what centuries of legal housing discrimination have broken for people of color. Homeownership is one of the biggest passages of wealth from generation to generation yet Black and Hispanic Americans have only 11% and 19% of the wealth of White Americans, respectively. These statistics have historical origins and generational implications. Greenline is changing this narrative. Since its inception, Greenline has awarded over $700K in grants to families of color in communities across the country.
